The CMTHI was able to discriminate levels of disability as measured by the CMT examination score and the mobility-Disability Severity Index. INTERPRETATION: The CMTHI represents a valid and reliable outcome to assess patient-reported disease burden in CMT. When this index goes up, interest rates on any loans tied to it also go up. Since this index is a monthly average of the one-year CMT yield, it is less volatile than daily interest rate movements The development of a disease‐specific patient‐reported outcome for Charcot–Marie–Tooth disease is an important step in the preparation for therapeutic trials. Read more about the Index and the international panel that helped develop it, download the report and data model, and watch our introductory video. Each visit will involve a series of functional tests including: the CMT Pediatric Scale, CMT Neuropathy Score second version, CMT Functional Outcome Measure, CMT Health Index, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the calf muscles without contrast, a nerve conduction study, and a pulmonary function test while sitting and while lying down. The diagnosis of CMT is made by combining clinical features with a nerve conduction study, which is a test where an electrical signal is sent down the nerve. CMT is an inherited peripheral neuropathy - a person must have a peripheral neuropathy based on a nerve conduction test in order to be affected with the condition. The Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) Center is a new multidisciplinary clinic at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. CMT disease is an inherited disorder of the peripheral nerves. CMT and other inherited disorders are due to defects of genes that code for proteins in the nerve fibers. A CMT diagnosis involves a clinical evaluation of muscle function and atrophy, testing of sensory responses, and electromyographic and nerve conduction studies. Many types of CMT can also be diagnosed by genetic testing. Click here for more information on diagnosing CMT.
